Powerpoint story in which Bella from the 'Twighlight' series describes a typical day. The text appears slowly, giving students time to read and work out the meanings. As a follow up you could ask the class for ideas, such as likes and dislikes, to augment the text on each slide and make the story their own.

This ppt is for an activity I conducted with our soon-to-be year 7s on their transistion visit. It's a facilitated activity that encourages the pupils to (i) share their perceptions of the benefits of learning a language (ii) think about how learning a language will devlop their generic thinking and learning abilities (iii) reflect on how an MFL lesson, which they have just had, has fostered generic thinking and learning skills. It could be used with Year 7s at the start of their MFL career.

This resource features an edited-down review of the film, followed by a 'Find the phrase&' exercise and a manipulation exercise. Together they are designed to help students create the kind of language they will need to describe themes in the film.

Interview with Mr Bean about towns in France he likes and has visited, loosely based on 'Mr Bean's Holiday'. Not all of his answers fit the questions but pupils generally pick up on this, ( and they can of course be invited to supply the answers Mr Bean should have given ...)

Revision of the paradigms of essen and trinken, followed by an exercise in which students must generate questions which they will use to interview a partner. They then conduct the interview, record the answers, and finally write up their results in the third person.

HIGHER level reading text about the Olympic Torch, a factory in Coventry, Didier Drogba's surprise role in the relay, plus a bit of symbolism. The text is followed by questions in English, a 'find the phrase' exercise picking out the different tenses in the text, an 'adapt the phrase' exercise and a writing task. NB The opening statement about the torch having arrived in England won't be true until the 17th of May. Edit the text if you use it before.
